Transdev Lead Supervisor in Roseland, New Jersey

Transdev Services, Inc. is seeking a Lead Transit Supervisor in its Essex, NJ office. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining effective operator coverage, ensure that daily performance standards are met, and maintain accurate data for reporting. This position reports directly to the General Manager in fulfilling day-to-day responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversees and performs various tasks to support operations, including but not limited to tasks related to dispatch, timekeeping, customer service and data entry.

  • Partner with the Operations Supervisor to identify problem areas, including restructuring routes to improve operational efficiencies

  • Ensures scheduling compliance.

  • Assign will-call and same day trips to available and appropriate vehicles in order to ensure on-time.

  • Ensures department is adequately staffed

  • Ensures operators are fit for duty at all times.

  • Works weekends as necessary or requested by GM.

  • Maintains an orderly work area - organized and clean before, during, and after the work shift.

  • Adheres to a dress code that demonstrates professionalism and respect.

  • Maintain up to date passenger records in customer database, making all necessary changes in status, client contact information, fare/rider type or other important field entries.

  • Other duties to ensure the safe operation and efficiency of the department.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • 1-2 years previous dispatch and/or customer service experience.

  • 2+ years supervisory experience; preferably managing a call or dispatch center.

  • Must be able to work flexible hours or shifts.

  • Must be able to demonstrate poise, tact, diplomacy and possesses good judgment and discretion.

  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written a must.

  • Detail oriented, well organized, and possess effective time management skills.

  • Proven customer service and interpersonal skills a must.

  • General knowledge of Windows-based computer operating system and Microsoft office package.

  • Must be able to work as a member of the team.

  • Ability to interact professionally with internal and external customer on all levels and be able to work well with diverse groups.

  • Ability to adapt and remain flexible in a fast-paced environment.

  • Able to use multi-line phone system and handle multiple tasks concurrently.

  • Other duties as required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • 2+ years operations experience in a safety sensitive environment.

  • 2+ year’s previous supervisory experience.

  • Experience dealing with the Union and working in the transportation industry a must.

  • Valid CDL class B with passenger and airbrake endorsements.

  • Must be able to demonstrate poise, tact, diplomacy and possesses good judgment and discretion.

  • Must possess ability to lead and motivate employees.

  • Detail oriented, well organized, and possess effective time management skills.

  • Proven customer service and interpersonal skills a must.

  • General knowledge of Windows-based computer operating system and Microsoft office package.

  • Must be able to work as a member of the team.

  • Ability to interact professionally with internal and external customer on all levels and be able to work well with diverse groups.

  • Must be able to work flexible hours or shifts.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • 95% of work is accomplished in doors and in air conditioned or well-ventilated facilities.

  • Frequently stands and walks; ability to sit for up to three hours; walk for long distances and on possible sloped ground or slippery and uneven surfaces; normal manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination; ability to lift material weighing up to 25 lbs. with assistance; ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crawl, and crouch; and corrected hearing and vision to normal range; verbal communication.

  • Exposure to heavy traffic areas while performing the duties of the job.

  • Exposure to considerable amounts of dust, vehicle fumes and noise.

  • Must be able to travel for company training, meeting or support missions.
