Transdev is looking for Dispatch Supervisors in Hamden, Connecticut to provide day-to-day supervision to schedulers in the Transportation Department. Our Dispatch Supervisors work to ensure trips are distributed efficiently and in a timely manner. Ensures Dispatchers have the tools they need to perform. Monitors provider performance and handles real-time complaints.

Our Dispatch Supervisors are responsible for:

  • Cover routes when there are call outs

  • Ensure the dispatching boards are correct and keep them updated

  • Assign trips as necessary to minimize deadhead miles/time and maximize efficiency while ensuring timely pickups

  • View and edit trips, using correct vehicles and drivers

  • Be able to geographically locate drivers at all times

  • Reassign trips as necessary to accommodate maintenance and trip demands

  • Document schedule changes and route coverage

  • Ensure timely performance of all trips by monitoring driver routes periodically

  • Ensure proper radio and 10-code use

  • Document all driver call outs, including early and late starts, and early and late finish

  • Monitor drivers for the proper uniforms

  • Communicate cancellations and trip changes to drivers and Management

  • Assist drivers in finding locations

  • Keep an accurate record of incidents and accidents and make sure to document in dispatch log and follow up with immediate supervisor

  • Assist drivers and notify proper authorities in the event of accident

  • Strive to perform the highest standard of customer service daily

  • Anticipate potential trouble and respond accordingly and promptly

  • Inform maintenance department of any road service calls

  • Assist in reports when needed.

  • Drive when needed to cover a route or bringing buses to dealers, etc.

  • Assist in handling attendance sheets.

To qualify as a Dispatch Supervisor, you’ll need:

  • A high school diploma or GED (Some college preferred)

  • CDL Required

  • Prior transportation scheduling, dispatch, or routing experience preferred

  • A minimum of two years supervisory experience

  • The ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written form with all levels of personnel

  • The ability to exercise good judgment and make decisions

  • The ability to handle escalated calls in a professional manner

  • To demonstrate great attention to detail

  • Excellent customer service and problem-solving skills

  • High-energy and be self-motivated

  • Knowledge of local geography

  • Subject to a drug screen
